What to Expect at Fencing Classes?

Whether you're completely new to fencing or have experience, our sessions are designed to be welcoming, structured, and a great opportunity to develop your skills.

6:30pm – Warm-Up and Games
Each session begins with a warm-up and some light games to get everyone moving and ready to fence.

Beginners' Lessons (when a course is running)
If you're enrolled on a beginners’ course, you'll have a dedicated lesson during the first part of the session. These are led by experienced fencers and are designed to help you build confidence, learn key techniques, and feel comfortable on the piste.

7:30pm onwards – Free Fencing and Experienced Fencers
After 7:30pm, the focus shifts to free fencing and more advanced practice. This time is mainly for experienced fencers, but beginners are welcome to observe or join in gradually as they build confidence.

Structured Support for Beginners
To help newer fencers make the most of the session, we provide a pool sheet. This gives structure to free fencing and makes it easier to know who to fence and when, creating a smoother, more inclusive experience.

Our sessions are open to everyone, regardless of experience. Come along, get involved, and enjoy learning in a friendly and supportive environment.
